Those are some super powerful words. These very same words that I read in a book by Louie Giglio has changed my life. It has given me power over my thoughts. This book can help you to win the battle of your mind, too! It has made me aware of how often the enemy is attacking me on a daily basis. Ways I never really even realized until I read this book.
This book does a deep dive into Psalm 23. If you go to church regularly you are familiar with this Psalm. Psalms is the book of poetry in our Bible, mostly written by King David. Psalms using poetic verse always captures the emotions of the writer and even the reader. Prior to reading, “Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table,” Psalm 23 had little meaning to me. It is very visual with green pastures, still waters, dark valleys and tables in the presence of enemies; but what exactly did it mean?? If you desire a better understanding of the Psalm that has brought comfort to many, get this book!

I learned from this book to recognize that all the negative talk, pity parties, and the things that distract me from God and doing his will; are all the devil trying to get me to forget who I am and my purpose in this life. When those thoughts start creeping in, I can immediately identify them now as not from my creator. I just tell myself, “Don’t Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table.” Doing this reminds me that God is with me even in the dark valleys. I just need to put my trust in Him, and my eyes on Him, then I will pass through this dark valley.
It was while reading this book that my husband and I were walking through our own dark valley and I was inspired to write my post, “God Never Said It Would Be Easy.” Between the Bible and this book, I now recognize those defeating thoughts I walk without stress in those dark valleys. Like I said, LIFE CHANGING.
If you want to have 9 little words that you can say when the devil is on your back that will snap you back to reality, and a comforting understanding of Psalm 23, this book will do that! I hope you will check it out! Have a blessed week!
