Christians Rise Up to Restore Communities!

Battles rage in school board meetings everywhere, and we are not exempt here in Davidson County, North Carolina. Many have heard of us recently due to the RIDICULOUS incident that has occurred with a Central Davidson High School Student, Christian McGhee. Our community supports the McGhee family as it became apparent in the 5/6 and 6/3 School Board Meetings.

The silence on behalf of all School Board Members in a moment when truth needed to speak is at minimum an embarrassment to our community. In this broken system, the McGhee family had to file a lawsuit against the board. This should have NEVER been an incident in the first place, and further more it should have never escalated to what it has. Christians it is time for us to take back our communities. The time is NOW to take action and reverse the absolute insanity that is plaguing our culture, our schools, and our nation.

Campaign Backstory

My involvement began in 2021, when COVID mandates continued to rage. Appalled at what I witnessed at the school board meetings. Parents with concerns and a deaf school board. I ran for Davidson County School Board in 2022, along with 8 other candidates for 2 open seats. Duty is ours results are God’s. I did not win. We elected 1 new member to the board unseating one incumbent. The news was good, but not great. In 2024 there will be 3 open seats and at least one incumbent not running again. I WILL be on that ballot again and with God’s grace win a seat on that board.

My 4 Main Issues

Pornographic Books

Some of the things I was fighting for are not issues two years later, like the Covid Mandates. However, some things have not changed or even worsened. For example pornographic books in our school libraries. The families fighting to have Perfectly Normal removed won that battle it seems. Unfortunately, there are so many more that are still around and predominantly in our High Schools.

A group out of Texas has been working hard to read and find all the questionable content in the books our teens our reading. They have compiled a list and have made it available to anyone interested in checking their own schools. They have also linked to the questionable content so you can read it for yourself. Some are definitely worse than others!

I connected with another group in NC who are fighting this same battle and I have been working with them to search the school libraries in Davidson County. I have finished North Davidson High School (they have 98 out of 410 of the books on the list.) North Davidson Middle School (Only 2, Thank God!) I am currently on Oak Grove High School. I am less than half way through the list and they already have 37 of these books.

There are still 13 Middle and High Schools left to go for Davidson County. If you’re interested in helping me, it only takes a couple hours per school to search the library’s digital inventory. Reach out to me and I can guide you on what to do!

Communication

I have reached out by email to all our current School Board Members regarding the fact that apparently textbooks are of no use in our schools. I did not hear back from anyone. My issue pales in comparison to the McGhee family who was blatantly ignored by the members of the board. Regardless of the size of the issue, if someone takes the time to reach out because they are concerned the LEAST an elected official can do is respond.

It bothers me tremendously when people think so little of those who contact them that they can’t even respond. I will not do that because it is a pet peeve of mine. If any family who reach out concerned, I will respond.

I have also heard that many families are upset with the lack of communication between teachers and parents, administrators and parents and of course School Board and parents. I don’t know what I will be able to do to help with teachers and administrators, but I do know that it takes a community. It takes engaged parents, engaged teachers and engaged administrators. I also know that it goes both ways. Parents have to read the communications teachers send out, just as much as teachers need to reach out. These relationships should be partnerships that build up our community and make us better for it.

Education

Education is slipping nation wide and it has been doing it for decades. Even those who graduated in the late sixties would have started to see the early effects of taking the Bible and the Ten Commandments out of classrooms. Now over 60 years later we see what the fruit of that tree has produced. Knowledge comes from God and when we take God out of Education we take Knowledge out of Education. What we have now are indoctrination camps with a hint of useful learning.

Parents are seeing that and that is why families are leaving public schools in DROVES to homeschool their children or move them to private schools, and to them I say Kudos! If the public schools won’t listen to what families are demanding then do what is best for your family. My goal is to make public school a place where parents will WANT to bring their children back to, but it is going to take time and hard work not just from me but from all the members of the community.

Religious Freedom

I do not blame teachers (completely). There are agenda motivated teachers and there are still really good conservative teachers who feel unsupported and like they have their hands tied. I want to free these teachers. Thanks to the Coach Kennedy Case, we have more Religious Freedom TODAY than we have had in 60 years!

Teachers, put your Ten Commandments back in your classrooms. Feel free to allow time for prayer. Most of all do not be afraid to have your faith in the classroom and allow children to have theirs. It is OUR First Amendment Right and just because you work for a public facility does NOT mean you have to leave your faith at the door!

“Separation of Church and State” is NOT in the Constitution! Lovers of history know that our Founding Fathers never intended to leave their faith on the sideline of ANY aspect of their life. God is in EVERYTHING and so should your faith be.

Slander

I think one of the most appalling things that I have heard was the fact that 2 board members have slandered Mrs. McGhee on social media platforms. Listen to the 6/3 School Board Meeting. Start at 32 mins and 50 seconds to hear the start of the community comments. Listen to these comments to understand how disconnected our current Board is from its community.

Once again we should be working together to set an example for our children as well as elevating our community. Let us not be like the rest of the world around us and let us be a shining light on a hill in NC. Let Davidson County pave the way for communities everywhere.
